Nvidia is said to manufacture Geforce “Lovelace” on TSMC’s 5 nanometers

Despite the prevailing shortage of graphics cards, the development is not stagnant, where now all three graphics card manufacturers are working full time on the next generation. At first glance, it looks like it will be a completely fresh Arc series from Intel and it is also rumored that Nvidia’s next “Lovelace” architecture may appear faster than expected. Further information is now circulating among well-known leakers on Twitter about which manufacturing technology to use.

Previous reports have already suggested that Nvidia will return to TSMC for manufacturing, where the “Ampere” series used Samsung’s 8-nanometer technology. The next generation Geforce card with the architecture “Lovelace” is said to take the step down to 5 nanometers and more specifically the manufacturing technology N5, writes the famous twitter profile @ kopite7kimi. This is a more advanced node than the TSMC N6 process Intel will use for its Arc graphics cards.

According to TSMC, the N5 technology will mean a 15 percent increase in performance while it will be 30 percent more energy efficient compared to the previous 7 nanometers. Why Nvidia did not choose the even more advanced N5P process is unclear, but one reason may be better yield for N5 set against N5P.
