Nvidia launches Geforce GTX 1080 Ti at GDC 2017

Rumors of a new graphics card in Nvidia’s Geforce 1000 series have been many and the card’s existence was recently confirmed in the system requirements for the upcoming Halo Wars 2. The model in question is the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, which is expected to be an upgraded version of the current top model in the series.

However, Nvidia themselves have not released any information about the model, but are now announcing via their website that they are planning something for the coming week. The countdown on the page ends on March 1 at 03:00 Swedish time, which is in the middle of the game developer fair GDC 2017.

However, several details point to a revelation of the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, as the first letters of the word “Time” are in bold and are followed by the phrase “#UltimateGeForce”. It is not yet known if the event will be livestreamed over the internet, but based on previous launches it is believed to be the case. Earlier the same day, AMD also held its graphics event Capsaicin.

The Geforce GTX 1080 Ti is expected to place itself between the absolute top model Titan X and the Geforce GTX 1080, with a scaled-down version of the GP102 circuit used in the former. In addition, there is talk of 12 GB of GDDR5X graphics memory.
