Nvidia launches sales of Geforce GTX 1070

The launch of Geforce GTX 1080 at the end of May was the starting shot for the architecture Pascal from Nvidia. Alongside the new top model, the GTX 1070 was announced, which with a scaled-down variant of the GP104 graphics circuit and GDDR5 memory instead of GDDR5X offers performance on par with the GTX Titan X at a lower price.

The Geforce GTX 1070 is now starting sales and first out is Nvidia’s reference design which goes by the name Founder’s Edition. This is the latest revision of Nvidia’s cooler, where it is worth noting that the steam chamber solution from GTX 1080 Founder’s Edition has been ironed out in favor of three heat conduction pipes.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 is reminiscent of the sibling GTX 1080. Under the shell, the GP104 houses 1,920 CUDA cores, down from 2,560 for GTX 1080. Another difference is that the 256-bit memory bus is accompanied by 8 GB of GDDR5 memory at 8,000 MHz , instead of 8 GB GDDR5X at 10,000 MHz.

The price for the model is SEK 4,999 or just over half against the similarly performing and now former flagship Geforce GTX Titan X. Later in June, the GTX 1070 also arrives with other cooling solutions, circuit boards and factory overclocking from partners, which will cost from as much down to 4,199 kronor.
