NVIDIA Opposes Unlocking LHR On Its Graphics Cards With New Driver

The latest driver released by NVIDIA, the 512.95 re-enables the mining limiter (LHR Lite Hash Rate) on RTX 30 graphics cards. By installing the new driver, all Windows based mining software will revert to the original hash rate , which is usually 50 to 70% depending on the algorithm and software.

Now, let’s face it, this doesn’t do much good, as miners can simply install the 512.77 driver which predates the latter, which can fully unlock LHR. So this is not exactly a big deal, for the mining community…

With Lite Hash Rate technology NVIDIA try to dissuade miners from buying their cards. Unfortunately, the crypto mining community cracked the LHR lock, by 70% very quickly, almost after the first LHR cards were released, almost a year and a half ago. However, the full LHR unlock has been available for only a few weeks.

In short, if you install these graphics drivers, the mining performance drops to almost half, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 LHR goes from mining 46 MH/s in Ethereum to 25 MH/s.
