New drivers are often a positive thing, with updated features and better performance. This is especially true in combination with fresh game titles, where optimizations can often provide both a more stable experience and a higher frame rate.
With that said, there will be periodic trouble in paradise. This applies, among other things, to users of the Geforce GTX 860M mobile graphics circuit in combination with Nvidia’s latest graphics card driver, Geforce 359.06 WHQL. The software causes games like The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate to crash to both the right and left, something that is obviously not desirable.
Nvidia’s solution to the problem is called Geforce 359.12, and is being rolled out as a so-called hotfix just for the specific issues with the Geforce GTX 860M. Otherwise, the change log is identical to that for Geforce 359.06, which means improved support for, for example, Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six Siege.
Nvidia Geforce 359.12 is available for download from the company’s website. The software works under Windows 7 or later in both 32 and 64 bits.
