Nvidia Super RTX: Release Date, News & Rumors

Turing supercharged.

Nvidia Turing has been around for almost a year, first unveiling back in August 2018. And now that AMD Navi graphics cards are hitting the market, Nvidia seems poised to release “Super” versions of the existing RTX line.

Read:

We first heard of Nvidia’s new “Super” RTX graphics cards back in May, ahead of Computex 2019, when Team Green released a mysterious video teaser for the Super GeForce product. However, Computex did not have a hint of any new GeForce graphics cards, and we assumed the new GPUs would be unveiled at E3 2019, where AMD showcased the Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700.

But when we didn’t get a release at E3 2019, we started seeing leaks suggesting that GeForce Super graphics cards actually span the RTX lineup from the RTX 2060 to the RTX 2080 Ti. We also learned that the Nvidia Super RTX series of graphics cards will arrive in mid-July, with the announcement on June 21st.

Unfortunately, we don’t have tons of information on the Nvidia Super RTX right now. However, we have been following PC components for years, so we rely on our experience to bring together all the speculation, rumors and scant news in one article. So don’t forget to bookmark this page as we will update it with any news about the Nvidia Super RTX.

Nvidia Super RTX: Release Date

Since the Nvidia Super RTX graphics cards have not yet been officially announced, there is no official release date yet. However, we have heard that Nvidia Super RTX graphics cards will be announced on June 21st and according to the latest rumors from Videocardz, we will see the cards in stores in mid-July.

However, since these are unconfirmed rumors, we recommend consuming them with a pinch of salt. In truth, we won’t know when Nvidia Super RTX graphics cards will be released, or even how many there will be, until Nvidia decides to share information.

Ultimately we know that graphics cards are most likely real and in development, and now there are plenty of supporting reports from authoritative sources such as WccfTech and Tom’s Hardware Germany.

Nvidia Super RTX: Pricing

Obviously Nvidia hasn’t released pricing information yet, but the streets say that “Super” Nvidia GeForce RTX series graphics cards will largely match the pricing of the current lineup. Previous RTX cards will be cheaper.

For example, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super is expected to cost the same as the existing Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080. Below is the pricing for the current Nvidia GeForce RTX lineup:

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti: 1199 $ (78000r + VAT);
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080: $ 799 (52000r + VAT);
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070: $ 599 (39000r + VAT);
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060: $ 349 (22500r + VAT);

Nvidia Super RTX: Specifications

When we first saw the first teaser for Nvidia’s Super graphics cards, we immediately assumed that the graphics cards would offer the leap in video memory (VRAM) that had been rumored for months. This decision will increase memory bandwidth from 14 Gbps to 16 Gbps – a minor but significant boost.

That said, when Wccftech released its leak in June suggesting that every graphics card from Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 to RTX 2080 Ti would get a huge boost in specs, we couldn’t help but notice.

The idea is that the RTX 2080 Ti (Super) will get an all-new (and currently unknown) GPU, pricing at $ 1199, while the existing flagship is expecting a price cut. We don’t know what GPU we’re talking about, nobody really knows, but the Wccftech leak claims it’s not just a stripped-down GPU from Quadro.

The same leak tells us that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super will get an RTX 2080 Ti GPU, while VRAM will grow to 11GB. This alone will make the video card more efficient than the original 2080 Ti.

However, a video from Toms Hardware Germany later revealed that the RTX 2080 Ti would not be among the new Nvidia Super RTX series. Instead, the line will end with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics card that will offer 3,072 CUDA cores instead of 2,944, along with the increased video memory we mentioned earlier.

If you don’t feel like watching videos in German, we’ve gone further and listed the specs for Nvidia Super RTX graphics cards:

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super: 3072 CUDA Cores | 8 GB GDDR6 – 16 Gbps;
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super: 2560 CUDA Cores | 8 GB GDDR6 – 14 Gbps;
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super: 2176 CUDA Cores | 8 GB GDDR6 – 14 Gbps;

What’s interesting here is that graphics cards get GPUs from models set a step higher in the original Nvidia Turing series. But that’s not all, the RTX 2060, which only offered 6GB of GDDR6, gets 8GB of video memory for more promising gaming performance. After all, these are all unverified leaks, and while we think the latter is more believable, we just don’t know for sure. However, both leaks suggest a graphics card announcement on June 21st, so we hope the date is correct at least. If so, we’ll see the Nvidia RTX Super out in the wild soon enough.
