After many years of favorable exchange rates and low prices, the trend has reversed here in Sweden. Although some product categories such as processors and graphics cards have the same recommended price in US dollars (USD) as their predecessors, Swedish prices have slowly climbed upwards.
Often razor-thin margins on computer components mean that even small fluctuations can make a real impression on companies’ margins, but despite this, they are normally reluctant to increase their prices. Now, however, it is clear that Nvidia has raised the prices of graphics cards for Swedish consumers on its own website.
Price: Geforce RTX 2080 Super, RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2060 Super
RTX 2080 Super | RTX 2070 Super | RTX 2060 Super | |
---|---|---|---|
Recommended price (USD) | 699 USD | 499 USD | 399 USD |
Previous Swedish price | SEK 8,199 | SEK 5,849 | SEK 4,699 |
New Swedish price | SEK 8,399 | SEK 5,999 | SEK 4,799 |
The trio that has undergone a price increase are Geforce RTX 2080 Super, RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2060 Super, which will be SEK 200, 150 and SEK 100 more expensive. However, the prices in US dollars, on which the Swedish are later based, remain unchanged at 699, 499 and 399 USD, respectively.
When SweClocker’s editorial staff contacts Nvidia, the answer is short that the increase is a direct result of prevailing exchange rates. However, it is not yet known whether the increase only applies to the company’s Founders Edition variants or whether the price increase will also be noticed on partner-made graphics cards.
