Nvidia visar PhysX i Batman: Arkham City

Anyone who owns a Geforce of a later cut has the option of having the graphics card relieve the processor via the physics system PhysX. The problem is that so far there are not very many titles that are able to take advantage of the graphics processor’s great computing power and thereby provide a more realistic simulation of, among other things, gravity and particle effects.

In the upcoming Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to the well-known Arkham Asylum, Nvidia once again has a finger in the pie and implements a number of physics effects via PhysX. The video above compares an aging Geforce 8800GT with the modern mid-range Geforce GTX 560. The latter graphics card provides everything from simulated whips to interactive smoke, physics-accelerated particles and objects.

At the same time, Nvidia also strikes a blow for the DirectX 11 feature tessellation, which allows the graphics card to increase its geometric complexity by complementing models with more triangles when positioned near the player’s camera. However, tessellation does not require Geforce but also works with later graphics cards from the Radeon series.

Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 21 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Those who prefer to play on PC / Windows will have to wait until November 18.
