Opera integrates its own Loomi streaming service into your browser

Opera Software released a new stable version of its Opera web browser, version 82.0.4227.33 to the stable channel, and with it comes the integration of Loomi, Opera’s online streaming service. Loomi is currently in beta and is only available in Poland. Opera Software plans to launch Loomi in additional European regions in the ‘near future’.

Loomi is available as a standalone webcasting service and is also integrated into the Opera web browser. The service is designed to make the viewing experience more engaging and interactive. The website is available in English and Polish.

Loomi is not a subscription service, which sets it apart from most streaming services available on the internet today. Users get a selection of free movies on the platform, which they can watch immediately. At least the free movie selection is ad-driven. Users must sign up for an account to view them, or log in with an Opera account, if they already have one.

Note: Loomi can block VPN users from viewing content. NordVPN servers were blocked from displaying, others may be blocked as well.

Loomi supports “custom filtering” according to Opera Software, which supports new options for finding content. Platform users can use regular search or filtering options to find content by mood, interest, characters, cast, story, and other parameters; this was the feature most appreciated by beta testers of the service according to Opera.

Viewers can share reactions while watching the movie, and those reactions can be shown while watching the movie on the platform.

Loomi’s selection of content is limited at the moment, but that’s to be expected as it’s still in beta. When you use the advanced search option for movies, you find 944 in the list. The selection includes popular movies from 2021 but also older movies.

The latest version of Opera includes the new L icon in the Polish sidebar. Users can click the icon to display Loomi in the browser’s sidebar, similar to how messengers open there as well.

Closing words

Loomi’s integration into Opera can give the service a little boost as users can notice it there and check it out. For Opera Software, it is another source of income that can help further diversify income.
