Palit and PC Partner past Asus in the graphics card market

The well-known Taiwanese component manufacturers Asus, Gigabyte and MSI are strong in the graphics card market. Asus is usually regarded as the largest player in the field, but now the relatively unknown Palit and PC Partner consumers are said to be catching up and passing.

According to Digitimes, Taiwanese Palit is the new world number one. This component manufacturer focuses mainly on Nvidia-based graphics cards and is behind brands such as Gainward, Galaxy, KFA2, Yuan, Vvikoo, Xpertvision and Daytona.

Hong Kong-based PC Partner sails up as the new runner-up. This graphics card manufacturer is AMD’s largest partner manufacturer and produces Radeon-based graphics cards under the well-known Sapphire brand. For Geforce, the name Zotac is used instead, but PC Partner also acts as a contract manufacturer for other companies in the industry.

The reason for the changing market shares is said to be that Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and TUL Corporation (PowerColor, Club3D) have suffered from import duties in China, which makes the companies’ products less competitive due to higher prices. The largest retailer in China, on the other hand, is Colorful Technology, while Asus holds fifth or sixth place.

In the global graphics card market, Palit is thus the new world number one, followed by PC Partner, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI. It is noted, however, that the market for stand-alone graphics cards continues to shrink due to tough competition from integrated graphics components.
