ASTANA, 13 Oct – PRIME. Europe is effectively deprived of the opportunity, even if it has to, to buy Russian gas, the Turkish Stream is the only reliable route, so Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan to build a gas hub, Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“The gas hub is really a very interesting topic. Look, there have been terrorist attacks, and indeed Europe is actually deprived of the opportunity, even if they have to, to buy our gas,” Peskov told reporters.
He added that Europe is now doomed to buying liquefied gas from the Americans at exorbitant prices. At the same time, the Turkish Stream remains the only reliable route.
“Since this is the only reliable route now, Putin just suggested making it possible to make a separate hub on the Turkish border, so that later those who wish can be supplied with gas through it,” Peskov stressed.
He also said that Russia currently has virtually no contacts with Europe regarding gas supplies.
“In fact, they don’t exist now, there are no contacts. European partners, they are not partners, but opponents, while they don’t want to contact,” Peskov said, answering a question from journalists whether contacts are being made with European partners for gas supplies.
