Corsair, which we know well now, has to put RGB LEDs everywhere, to the delight of fans 😉 This is once again the case today for the ML Pro series of fans (tested here), which were available with and without LEDs (blue, white, red).
The new beasts take the name of ML Pro RGB (available in 12 and 14 cm), models which are in the same lineage but change however on a few points, which we will see immediately!

Characteristics

As we can see the ML140 Pro RGB from Corsair is therefore a 14 cm fan for a standard thickness of 2.5 cm, no worries of any incompatibility on the horizon. Unlike the “classic” ML Pro which were only one of a specific color here of course the choice is left to the buyer, the Christmas tree is quite possible 😉
The connection is made via a 4-pin PWM cable for the fan part and another cable to drive the installed LEDs. It is important to know that to configure the LEDs you will need either to have a Corsair control box or to take the pack of 2 fans which are delivered with all the necessary accessories.
The rotation speed is a point that changes greatly compared to ML Pro, here we stay at a minimum speed of 400 RPM against 1200 RPM maximum for the ML140 Pro RGB (against 2000 RPM for the ML Pro). This will inevitably lead to 2 things, one the Pro RGB will be quieter in general (except at the minimum) but it will also be less efficient, something to take into consideration before purchasing.
The bearing used is identical, with magnetic levitation and which works rather well on ML Pro, point of parasitic noise and a rather serious sound imprint as can be found on Noctua fans.

Regarding the price now no secret, you pour a lot of Corsair in a bowl, you add high-end bearings, RGB and you arrive at 32.90 €! Ouch, it actually hurts and it’s a pretty big increase over an ML140 Pro. Note that a pack of 2 fans with the controllers needed to drive the LEDs is available for € 79.90.

Presentation and bundle

The box is in the Corsair spirit, with a rather nice mixture of black and yellow without hurting the eyes too much. There is a photo of the illuminated fans of all the lights on the front face, with of course the logo of the brand, the name of the model as well as the number of fans present. A small list of the strong points is also present, magnetic levitation bearing, RGB, customization etc.

At the rear there is a table of technical characteristics as well as a listing of the strengths of the beast, the same ones found at the front 😉

Inside the box everything is as usual very tidy, each fan has the right to its small box and the third contains all the accessories.

Here is the bundle of the pack of 2 fans as well as the accessories necessary to operate the LEDs. We therefore find the 2 control boxes (1 x HUB RGB Lighting as well as 1 x Lighting Node PRO), the cables to connect this little world as well as the necessary screws and a manual. With this there will be everything you need to mount and control the RGB LEDs of the fans.

Here are the beasts! The first thing that strikes you when handling the thing is the solidity and the feeling of quality that emerges, you feel that you are in front of a high-end fan, and still happy considering the price! For comparison, we arrive at the same level as what we find at Noctua, and this is clearly not a criticism 😉
The brand’s logo is soberly placed in the center, in order to show where the fans installed in its case come from. Here compared to the “classic” ML Pro, the plastic used for the blades is more opaque and will certainly allow a softer light diffusion and will hide what is behind.

As we can see more ready here the plastic corners are not in direct contact with the carcass, this will allow Corsair to make only one carcass for all models and to change only the corners (of different colors) , in addition to attenuating vibrations.

Each fan uses 2 cables, one for the fan part itself via a 4-pin PWM cable and the other for the management of the LEDs, to be plugged into the Corsair controllers. Note that the cables are not braided, but very thin to easily go everywhere.

Here are the 2 control boxes to drive the LEDs. You will first have to connect the fans (up to 6) to the HUB (bottom of the photo), then connect the latter to the Lighting Node Pro (top) which will itself connect to a USB 2.0 port of the motherboard. In addition to that, you must not forget to connect each Sata controller to the power supply. There is clearly a nice little bundle of cables here for driving LEDs, but RGB fans must be used to it by now
