Putin noted the threat to nuclear safety due to the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

VLADIVOSTOK, 7 Sep — PRIME. The Kyiv regime poses a threat to nuclear security by shelling the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), fragments of HIMARS and other means of destruction lie on its territory, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a plenary meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“There are also fragments of HIMARS and other weapons lying around. Does this create a threat or not? Of course it does!” – he said.

Putin believes that the members of the IAEA mission, who recently visited the Zaporizhzhya NPP, are under pressure from the countries in which they work, so they cannot directly say that the plant is being shelled from the Ukrainian side.

The President stressed that there is no Russian military equipment on the territory of the nuclear power plant, which the IAEA proposes to remove in its report. The counter-battery equipment is located far beyond the perimeter of the facility, Putin explained.

“I saw in the report that the IAEA considers it necessary to remove military equipment from the territory of the station. But there is no military equipment on the territory of the station. IAEA employees should have seen this and now they can see it, because two (IAEA employees – ed.) are there left,” he said.

Putin explained that the National Guard guards the perimeter and the inside of the station, it ensures security.

“Our equipment, including combat equipment, which provides counter-battery combat, is not located at the station, it has been moved quite far beyond the perimeter of the station,” the president added.
