Radeon RX 5600 XT on the market soon: as fast as a Vega 56?

According to Igor Wallossek of the German site Igor’s Lab, AMD should bring the Radeon RX 5600 XT during third week of January 2020. According to Wallossek, AMD will use the GPU again Ships 10 for this model, the same solution on board the RX 5700 and 5700 XT cards available since last July.

The Navi 10 GPU will however be castrated to position yourself on a lower performance level. A complete Navi 10 chip is equipped with 40 Compute Units for a total of 2560 stream processors, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

According to rumors, AMD could disable a quarter of the resources creating an RX 5600 XT with 30 CU, 1920 SP, 120 TMU, 48 ROPs and 3 MB of L2 cache. The bus will also drop from 256 to 192 bits. As for memory we speak of 6 GB GDDR6.

In theory, a Radeon RX 5600 XT so configured would offer up to 75% of the performance of the RX 5700 XT at the same frequencies, positioning itself approximately on the level of the old Radeon RX Vega 56, with the aim of offering adequate performance in WQHD.

This assumption seems to be supported by some scores that appeared in the 3DMark database, where there is a RX 5600 XT with 6 GB of GDDR6.

RX 5500 XT 8 GB RX 5600 XT 6 GB RX 5700 XT 8 GB Difference with RX 5500 XT
Time Spy Extreme n / a 2815 4157 n / a
Time Spy 4800 6446 9302 + 34%
Fire Strike Ultra 3500 4756 6881 + 36%
Fire Strike Extreme 6800 9198 13395 + 35%
Fire Strike 14300 18906 27475 + 31%

According to the scores, the RX 5600 XT 6 GB should be 31 to 36 percent faster than an 8 GB RX 5500 XT and in line with the Vega 56. At the moment there is no information on the price, while the presentation could take place during the CES 2020 in Las Vegas.
