Restart your computer on YouTube
YouTube is the website to go to when you want to watch a video of anything. Most people will upload a video here via other platforms because it’s easy. Users who want to watch a video go to YouTube because it is a popular video platform and because playing a video on it is easy. Both the mobile and desktop versions, as well as the mobile apps, offer a seamless playback experience.
YouTube only needs a modern web browser and an active internet connection to work. The video will play and the audio will play with it. Playback of video and audio on YouTube or any other website or application depends on your system being configured correctly. If the video or audio drivers are not working properly, you cannot play audio or video.
If you are playing a video on YouTube and you see the audio renderer error: restart your computer error message, please run the following checks.
If the above doesn’t fix the problem and you can play local videos and videos on other websites, try the following to fix the error message on YouTube.
First of all, you must reboot the system. The error suggests this and you should try it. The problem should not persist after a reboot; however, if you do, try the other solutions we have listed.
If you have an external audio device connected to your system, you may be experiencing problems or the system was unable to configure it correctly.
Change to an internal audio device, for example, the built-in speakers. Also try connecting a different audio device, for example a pair of wired or wireless headphones and check if YouTube can play the video.
Regardless of the audio device you use, it works through your system’s sound card. Restarting the sound card can fix the YouTube error.
Windows 10 comes with an audio troubleshooter. Run it and it may be able to solve audio problems.
Modern browsers now support hardware acceleration and it is useful when you have to use powerful web applications, but it can also cause problems. Try disabling hardware acceleration in the browser and then play a video on YouTube.
You can disable hardware acceleration in both Chrome and Firefox.
Make sure the plugins and extensions you have installed are not causing problems. Disable them all and check if the video plays.
YouTube generally does not cause problems. That being said, sometimes these errors appear due to network issues. If you are using a VPN, try disabling it and then play a video. You can also try reinstalling the browser you use and the problem should go away.
