Retro mode has come to the Waze app

The Waze navigation, which has belonged to Google since 2013, will make us feel nostalgic for the long-gone years for a while. All thanks to the new modes – the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Waze gets a “retro look”

We emphasize right away that this is a cosmetic change, which, however, may appeal to many people, because it is simply pretty and interesting. Depending on the selected mode, the interface in the application will be different. A DJ as a navigator and a floral van moving on the map in the style of the iconic “Cucumber” will put us in the mood of years. The 1970s will bring a fitness instructor to guide us through the route and a beefed up DeLorean car icon. The theme inspired by the 90s brings a pop star as a navigator and pick-up speeding on digital roads.

This update will not bring any new features, and Retro Mode will come to Waze only for a while, although it has not yet been specified for how long. It is worth mentioning, however, that in order to provide the best “retro experience”, Waze, along with the styling change, also introduces the possibility of including playlists containing popular songs from the time. The only problem may be accessibility, because as far as we know, the feature is available worldwide, but only in English, French and Portuguese.
