A new Minecraft server allows players to compete to find hidden treasures and receive a reward in Bitcoin.
Known as SatoshiQuest, the challenge is to find a hidden lot in “vast Minecraft landscapes”. Users pay $ 1 in Bitcoin for a lifetime of gambling. Registration fees are distributed to two portfolios. 90% will go to a specific treasure wallet address, which is given to the player who finds the first loot. 10% are collected by the game developers.
The reward in Bitcoin for the one who finds the treasure
In order to participate, users must set up their own wallet that they can use to pay for their lives and receive their winnings. If I wish, I can also connect an external wallet to the Minecraft game server.
The first round of SatoshiQuest began on January 26, and the game is reset once the treasure has been found. The server checks the Bitcoin price every 15 minutes, automatically updating the participation fee to keep it at $ 1.
After finding the treasure, winners receive 85 percent of the balance, while the remaining 5 percent is kept until the next round. The reward is only paid if the balance of the treasure wallet exceeds the transaction tax.
The project is open source, the code being available on GitHub.
Over 180 million copies of Minecraft have been sold since the end of 2019, making it the best-selling video game in history. It allows users to create their own worlds on their own servers. The game has already included prizes in Bitcoin, with BitQuest and PlayMC servers, from 2014 and 2015 respectively. Both have integrated cryptocurrency to test and educate users about digital currencies.
