MOSCOW, 13 Oct — PRIME. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on Thursday on a statement by Danish Defense Minister Morten Bedskov that World War II shells located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea make it difficult to investigate sabotage on gas pipelines, according to her, the presence of such shells did not interfere with the construction of the gas pipeline itself.

Novak: Russia still not allowed to investigate Nord Stream

Earlier, Bedskov told reporters before a NATO meeting in Brussels that World War II shells at the bottom of the Baltic Sea make it difficult to investigate alleged sabotage on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

“I’ll ask the Danish Minister of Defense a couple of questions: 1. The shells of the Second World War did not interfere with the laying of the gas pipeline? 2. How will he explain the appearance in 2015 under the Nord Stream 1 pipe of a NATO shell from the current times?” Zakharova wrote in her channel in Telegram.

At the same time, she stressed that Russia is also facing the problem of unexploded shells of the Second World War, but this “does not prevent us from building housing, factories, roads.”
