RuStore allowed individuals to publish applications on their platform

At the end of May, VK, together with the Ministry of Digital Development, in response to the ban on the possibility of paying for products with Russian bank cards on Google Play and the AppStore, launched a beta version of the domestic RuStore store, which works on mobile devices with the Android operating system.

“Individuals got the opportunity to publish applications in RuStore. To download, the developer needs to register and verify – this is necessary for the safety of users,” the message says.

The company clarified that applications and developers in RuStore undergo mandatory moderation and verification in order to prevent the download of malicious content. “To register, the developer needs to specify the VK ID, the address of the site or page on the social network, enter the phone number and mail, and then go through online verification: this will require you to upload a passport photo and show your face to the camera. Algorithms check the data for a few minutes. The platform rules are the same for individuals and legal entities,” the company said.

At the end of August, VK reported about 925,000 RuStore installations on user gadgets and more than 2 million app downloads from this platform.
