Sapphire’s support reveals products based on the Radeon RX 460 and RX 470

During AMD’s Polaris event in Macao before the Computex trade fair, a lot of information was revealed about the new mid-range card Radeon RX 480, but details were also revealed about the budget cards Radeon RX 470 and RX 460. Since then, it has been quiet about both, but now Sapphire models have been revealed on the company’s support page.

It is the Reddit user CBwardog who found the upcoming models when a support case was to be created on Sapphire’s web portal. The list of products that the support case may apply to includes two models based on the Radeon RX 470, with 4 and 8 GB of graphics memory, respectively. The model with larger memory is also equipped with a cover plate on the back.

The list also includes three models of Radeon RX 460, two of which are overclocked variants, one with 2 and one with 4 GB of graphics memory. The third model is a variant of 4 GB graphics memory with a rear cover plate.

During the same event, AMD indicated that the Radeon RX 470 will be available as a reference design as well as partner-made variants, while the simpler model RX 460 will only be available in the form of partner-made models.

The picture also lists a model named Radeon 490 without the RX designation. It is unclear whether this reveals an upcoming performance model from AMD or not. A web search on the product number leads to Sapphire’s reference model of the Radeon RX 480 8 GB, which is not on the list.

AMD has not revealed when the Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 will reach the market, but since products based on these circuits are inside the partner manufacturers’ systems, a launch should not be too far into the future.
