MOSCOW, 18 Sep — PRIME. Telephone scammers began to actively lure Russians for access codes to accounts in large ecosystems – Yandex or VK – this is how scammers try to get not only photos and correspondence, but also payment data, RIA Novosti was told at the cybersecurity company Angara Security.

They noted that they are recording an increase in fraudulent activity aimed at gaining access to the accounts of domestic companies that form ecosystems. In this case, the account is considered a single window for logging into several applications at once.

Angara Security experts found out that a potential victim receives a confirmation code to restore access to “one of the accounts – Yandex or VK”, after which the attackers call and ask for his name.

“According to the legend, your phone number matches the number of their friend, to whom an account was registered in some social network, and now he needs to restore access to the page. In reality, scammers are trying to gain access to your account in this way,” explained in companies.

After the first call from scammers, people continue to receive confirmation codes and numerous calls from scammers asking them to tell them these numbers. Experts urge not to tell anyone the codes to access their accounts, even despite the tearful stories.

“Remember that access to your page on the social network can give fraudsters not only correspondence and photos, but also payment data, since a card is attached to pay for purchases in ecosystem applications,” warned Tatyana Lynova, an analyst at the Angara Security operational monitoring group.
