Scholz appreciated the possibility of blackouts in Germany this winter
BERLIN, Sep 4 – PRIME. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not believe that there will be blackouts in Germany in winter, but he did not rule it out, he stated this in an interview with the second German channel ZDF.
“We have done everything to prevent this from happening. I have already reported on some measures – for example, that coal-fired power plants are ready to earn and produce electricity so that we can save gas,” Scholz said.
Asked if he could rule out blackouts, the chancellor replied that “everything that has been done is doing its part to prevent this from happening.”
Earlier, CDU leader Friedrich Merz, in an interview with the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, spoke about possible power outages in Germany next winter if the country continues to abandon nuclear energy in the face of an energy crisis.
