Seagate launches a Star Wars SSD that looks like beskar ingots for The Mandalorian

Seagate has just released a trio of storage drives inspired by The Mandalorian. Crazy for fans (like me) awesome piece of Star Wars branded PC gaming hardware.

The units Beskar Ingot Special Edition FireCuda they come as external hard drive, M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD. The design is based on the beskar ingots that appear in the first season of The Mandalorian, and even includes the seal of the Galactic Empire.

Star Wars branding aside, the NVMe SSDs are actually the Firecuda 530, one of our favorite gaming SSDs. The 530s offer pretty good performance, but are more expensive when it comes to other M.2 drives like the WD Black series. Still, those units don’t look as good as these, so that’s about it.

So what are beskar ingots and why am I irrationally excited? Well, if I may:

Beskar is a super durable metal used to make the armor of the Mandalorians, the warrior people of the planet Mandalore. He can resist blaster bolts and block lightsabers.

After the Clone Wars and the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Imperials slaughtered most of the Mandalorians during the Great Purge of Mandalore and pillaged the entire beskar.

When the Empire fell after the Battle of Yavin 4, the remnants of the Empire used beskar bullion as currency, as Galactic Credits were useless in the New Republic.

In the series, the Mandalorian receives several beskar ingots after completing a bounty. Mando then melts down the beskar and forges it into some fancy-looking armor before heading off to do a bunch of Star Wars stuff.

I’m done talking about Star Wars. I swear.

For now we do not know the prices but we do not believe that they differ much from the normal prices of these products.
