BRUSSELS, 7th — PRIME. The European Commission (EC) has not yet made specific proposals to limit EU prices for imports of Russian pipeline gas, the issue must first be discussed with the countries of the region, a source in the EU told reporters.
Putin jokingly threatened to leave the EU without energy resources
“The European Commission is not proposing anything about Russian price restrictions at the moment, this is one of the possible measures that will need to be discussed with member countries, with ministers on Friday,” he said.
An extraordinary meeting of EU energy ministers will be held on 9 September. The European Commission, as previously reported, will submit five emergency and temporary measures to resolve the situation on the electricity market, including a price limit on Russian pipeline gas imports, for consideration by this council.
