Sweden has reached a record in the export of electricity to the EU countries

MOSCOW, 10 Sep — PRIME. The export of Swedish electricity to the EU countries in July 2022 against the background of the energy crisis in the European Union amounted to four terawatt-hours, which is a record monthly figure for the kingdom, SVT reported.

According to the TV channel, in July this year Sweden exported electricity to Finland, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania and Germany. The largest export was to Germany. At the same time, the report does not specify specific figures for the export of electricity to the mentioned countries.

“At the height of the energy crisis, Sweden has set a new record for electricity exports. Sweden’s electricity exports in July amounted to 4 terawatt-hours … This is a record figure for one month … This year, Sweden exported 20 terawatt-hours through July,” the channel says .

According to SVT, the export of electricity “worsens the situation” of its consumers in the south of the country, where electricity prices are traditionally higher than in the northern regions of Sweden.

Earlier, the leader of the opposition Moderate Coalition Party of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, said that electricity prices in early August in Sweden were on average five times higher than in 2020, the government, in his opinion, is having difficulty planning electricity prices.
