WSJ reveals German investigators’ findings on Nord Stream accidents

A video taken by an underwater drone shows significant damage to the highway. Some parts of the pipe have cracks, sharp edges sticking out, while on others the metal is significantly deformed. Traces of a very strong explosion are visible on the seabed around the pipe.

The publication noted that the scale of the damage indicates how powerful was the explosion that destroyed the pipeline.

“It takes a lot of force to damage such thick metal, as we can see (in the video),” drone operator Trond Larsen was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

In Sweden, an explosion on gas pipelines is being investigated by the Säpo security police.

The attacks took place on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines was unprecedented and it was impossible to estimate the timing of repairs. The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated a case on an act of international terrorism after the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
