| Specs | Price

Hi all!

With the arrival of the new Ryzen processors from AMD the small world of general public processors has been turned upside down, indeed after years of domination by Mr Intel the cards have changed and we must now deal with the return of the competitor. The range of motherboard from AMD is divided into 3 chipsets, the A320 (entry level), B350 (mid-range) and X370 (high-end), it is a card equipped with the latter that I will present to you , the Asus Prime X370-Pro! On the program a motherboard intended for users looking to get the most out of their Ryzen processor, overclocking of the part of course, multi-GPU (SLI and Crossfire), studied audio part and so on.
Offered at a price of around € 180, it is part of the entry level of this type of card, which is not cheap in itself but is cheaper than many of its competitors, let’s see what this gives in convenient!

The Asus Prime X370-Pro motherboard is therefore a standard ATX motherboard measuring 30.4 cm by 24.3 cm, so no worries about any potential incompatibility with ATX boxes. It is equipped with the latest chipset from AMD, the X370, compatible with Ryzen and (later) A / Athlon processors. Note that unlike motherboards from Intel, overclocking is not only available on the X370 (the most upscale) but also on the B350.
The card is compatible only with DDR4 memory, ranging from 2133 MHz to 2666 MHz, in “Dual Channel” and for a total of 64 GB maximum. Note that even if officially we cannot put higher frequency memory with BIOS updates, it will be possible to go up to 3200 MHz, however, you must really pay attention to the kit installed because there is has for the moment a lot of concerns at this level.
The Prime X370-Pro has 3 16x PCIE ports, only 2 of which are in version 3.0, one is wired in 16x and the other in 8X (8x / 8x in the context of a multi GPU configuration) Crossfire and SLI compatible. There are also 3 PCIe 1x ports for the various potential expansion cards.
On the storage side, we are entitled to 8 x Sata 6Gb / s managing the RAID 0/1/10 as well as an M.2 compatible PCIe 4x or Sata 6Gb / s. Suffice to say that there will logically be more than enough connectors for the vast majority of users.
The network is entrusted to an Intel I211-AT Gigabit controller, a good thing because it is better than RealTek. The audio chip is entrusted to RealTek with its ALC S1220A model accompanied by high-end audio capacitors which should prove more than sufficient as long as one is not an advanced and particularly demanding user.
Offered at a price of around € 180, it has everything everyone will need for a configuration, even when loaded, let’s see if it keeps its promises!

The box here is more sober than what we find on the brand’s ROG models, which is not a bad thing in itself, clearly. A photo of the beast is on the front with of course the name of the model as well as the logo and the brand. A little marketing word comes here, “The BEST Motherboard” just that, let’s go: p
At the back we find a list of strengths, such as the M.2 port, the internal USB 3.1 Type C connector, compatibility with RGB bands (and yes we can’t escape it apparently) and so on. A small listing of technical characteristics is present, at least something useful for anyone who would buy in store.

Inside we fall directly on the motherboard in its antistatic bag, the bundle is as usual just below!

The bundle consists of a manual with its driver DVD, a discount coupon for braided cables from Cablemod, 4 x Sata cables (and not 2, thank you!), An SLI bridge and the I / O plate. Everything is therefore present to install the beast, there is nothing really to complain about.
