Test – Corsair Commander Pro
| Specs | Price
Hi all!
In addition to boxes, fans, peripherals and so on Corsair also offers some exotic products, like the product of today’s test, the Commander Pro! Under this name hides a box that is installed in the PC and which acts as a control center, whether it is the fans, the RGB LEDs or different temperatures via the supplied probes. There is not much competition in the market, except from NZXT with its (very good) GRID +! Offered at a recommended price of € 74.99 this will clearly not appeal to everyone but fans of personalization of the interior of their PC will perhaps be delighted, if the tests are successful! 😉
For the purposes of the test Corsair also sent me the accessories which go well and which will allow you to show you a bit how it all works. We recognize of course the Coirsair paw with a mixture of yellow and black for the boxes 😉
Inside the box we find the Commander Pro in its plastic bag, itself hiding the bundle.
The bundle as usual with this type of product is complete, 2 cables for the LEDs (to be connected to HUBs like the one that manages the brand’s HD140 fans), 4 4-pin extensions for fans, 4 temperature probes , 2 double-sided adhesive strips and an installation guide. In the end there is everything here to connect the beast, on the other hand yes there are a lot of cables and you will have to be careful to have a clean installation.
Here is the beast! As you can see it is not that small with 13.3 cm in length, 6.9 cm in width and 1.55 cm in thickness, so you will have to pay attention to the space in the box (and all the cables that will go with). The build quality is very good and everything is sober.
On one side are 6 4-pin connectors for 6 PWM fans as well as 2 connectors for the LEDs (compatible only with Corsair products).
On the other side 4 connectors for temperature probes as well as 2 USB 2.0 connectors. It is interesting here to find the 2 USB 2.0 connectors, even if the Commander Pro uses 1 to communicate with the motherboard there will always be available, which is always useful.
The box is connected to the motherboard via a USB cable and is powered by a Sata connector which plugs directly into the power supply.
