Test – Corsair HD120 RGB
| Specs | Price

Hi all!

Back at Corsair today, after testing their latest top-of-the-range fans (which you can read here), we’re back to the table with slightly different models. As everyone is starting to know, RGB invades all the components of a computer, it started with LED strips that can be installed in a box, then peripherals (keyboards, mice) to finish with fans, and even some food. Corsair, as an actor who follows trends as much as possible, has therefore decided to do the same with the HD series, equipped with RGB LEDs that can be controlled with the finger and the eye for the pleasure of all.
The HD series is available in 12 cm, with or without controller, the prices range from 25.90 € for the fan alone to 81.90 € for a pack including 3 fans and the controller through the 37.90 € for a single fan and its controller, so they are not cheap but the look is priceless for the moment!

The Corsair H120 RGB is therefore a 12 cm side and 2.5 cm thick fan, all that is more classic. The connection is provided by a 4-pin PWM cable 60 cm in length, in addition to another cable also 60 cm which will be connected to the controller in order to access the modification of the color of the LEDs.
The rotation speed fluctuates from 800 to 1725 RPM, for a theoretical sound level of 18 to 30 dB, which means that at a minimum it will be discreet but should be quite noisy at the maximum, which is in the end quite normal.
The weight of 180 grams places it in fairly heavy models without arriving at what we find on the ML120 Pro for example, nothing surprising, however, seeing the addition of 12 LEDs all around the frame, we have nothing for nothing!
Offered at 25.90 € alone, 37.90 € with a controller and 81.90 € for a pack of 3 with controller we are here at the level of the most expensive fans on the market, let’s hope that the addition of LEDs does not come at the expense of the acoustic performance of the beast. The warranty of “only” 2 years and the MTBF of “only” 40,000 hours do not mean that it will be as durable as the top-of-the-range models but less “bling bling”, to see in use however.
