Test – Crucial MX300 750 Go
| Specs | Price

Hi all!

We no longer need to introduce Crucial, now well known for its memories and SSDs, they are back today with the third evolution of their MX range, I named the MX300! Currently offered in a single capacity of 750 GB. Evolution therefore of the MX200 here we go from MLC memory to 3D TLC, which allows a reduction in the price by arriving at around 205 € while keeping endurance on paper very high, as we will see later. The goal here is clearly to compete with the 850 Evo model from Samsung, let’s see what it has in its belly!

As we can see the range of Crucial MX300 is limited for the moment to a single version of 750GB, within a few months there will most certainly be versions ranging from 250GB to 1TB (see more), the format is like usually 2.5 ″ for a thickness of 7 mm which can be increased to 9.5 mm with the adapter supplied.
The evolution of the MX range changes MLC memory chips to the brand new TLCs (Micron). Although this development is perceived by some as a regression because the latter are supposed to be less enduring than the MLC Crucial announces a write capacity of up to 220 TB, which still represents 120 GB per day for 5 years, in other words some something almost impossible to achieve for Mr. Toutlemonde.
The theoretical sequential read speed reaches 530MB / s for 510MB / s write, nothing that really messes with what is done on the market, but all this is greatly limited anyway by the speed of the Sata 3.0 ports themselves. even, unless you have a PCie SSD it won’t really be possible to climb higher.
Offered at a price of around 205 € it ranks very well compared to the competition, which is crucial (what a pun!) In this ultra competitive market now. Unfortunately one little thing could have been improved, the warranty of “only” 3 years when competitors often offer 5 years.

The box does not really change compared to what the usual brand does, on the front side we find a photo of the beast on a gray background accompanied by the Crucial logo as well as of course the model, we also see the capacity and the fact that this 750 GB version is limited. Note that as usual there is no room here for pompous marketing, thank you Mr Crucial!

At the back we find another photo of the beast as well as the contents of the box and the mention of the warranty period of 3 years.

Nothing foolish inside, a plastic mold in which the SSD resides, Crucial gets straight to the point!

Crucial_MX300_bundle

Regarding the bundle Crucial offers exactly the same as usual, namely the SSD (yes still a minimum!), A plastic adapter allowing to pass its thickness from 7mm to 9.5mm as well as a number of serial for Acronis True Image HD software (which allows you to quickly clone a disk).

Here again nothing that really changes from all the other SSDs of the brand, an aluminum frame which makes the beast very light, a sticker on the top as well as on the bottom.
