Hi all !

I no longer present Noctua, which for years now has been one of the leaders in high-end PC cooling. Who says high-end in most cases says high price, so that is why Noctua now offers a range of fan without all non-essential accessories (only 4 screws remain in the bundle) at a price 25% less high in order to attract new customers I named the range « Redux« !

In addition to this Redux range, Noctua is taking the opportunity to release at the same time a range of fans specially designed for industrial needs with a high number of rotations per minute (up to 3000) and also meeting certain international standards for protection against dust and water (we are going to test this!) I named the range « IndustrualPPC« .

noctua_industrial_ppc_a14_2000_ip67_pwm

Much more than that, some will see above all another notable change and not the least, the color! Yes you read that correctly, Noctua has finally decided to change the color of some of its fans! 2 shades of gray for Redux and black for IndustrialPPC.

The fans tested today are:

  • NF-F12 IndustrialPPC 2000 IP67 PWM
  • NF-F12 IndustrialPPC 3000 PWM
  • NF-A14 IndustrialPPC 2000 IP67 PWM
  • NF-A14 IndustrialPPC 3000 PWM
  • NF-P14r redux 1500 PWM
  • NF-P14s redux 1500 PWM
  • NF-P14s redux 900
  • NF-S12B redux 1200 PWM
  • NF-S12B redux 700

The IndustrialPPC range is characterized by fans designed for industrial environments requiring consequent cooling in conditions which can be difficult, a lot of dust or the risk of splashing.
All IndustrialPPC fans have at least IP52 protection and some models IP67 (more information here):

  • IP52: Protected against dust and protected against falling drops of water up to 15 ° from the vertical.
  • IP67: Totally protected against dust and protected against the effects of immersion (up to 1 m).

We will see later if they are capable of being overwhelmed!

Presentation and bundle

The box is smaller than usual but remains in the spirit of the brand, that is to say sober and classy. At the back there is a sticker with the main characteristics of the fan. Once the box is open we find the fan surrounded by cardboard to protect a minimum of the product during transport.
The bundle meanwhile is content with 4 screws, the minimum vital!

The slowest of the range still turn with a speed of 2000 RPM, which is already higher than any other fan from Noctua, in fact Noctua seeking silence it is not possible to have a product. silent at 2000 RPM. In an industrial environment, on the other hand, it is not really necessary to buy silent fans but on the contrary, performance is required, so it is with this in mind that the IndustrialPPC range was born and as the technical characteristics suggest. foresee that will certainly be the case!
The 6-year warranty coupled with an MTBF of 150,000 hours like the entire Noctua range promises good performance of the fans over time.

Immersion

Since I’m still curious and when I am told that a product can be immersed I have to try, I made a little video:

Not much to say, the fan works perfectly after being totally immersed and does not suffer from any after-effects, if you install your fan in a PC equipped with water-cooling and it starts to leak this little Noctua will continue its operation. work as if nothing had happened and will dangle water all over your tower 😀

Made up of fans that have proven their worth and have contributed to Noctua’s reputation for years, this range is off to a good start and future customers will know what to expect!
The only difference being the reduced bundle and the color changing to light gray and dark gray and a lower price of 25 to 30%.

The box is identical to that of IndustrialPPC except for the color which changes from black to gray, we always find the characteristics on the back and a cardboard around the fan inside the box to protect it during transport.
The bundle is also identical with 4 fixing screws.

noctua_p14r_redux_1500_PWM

The NF-P14r redux-1500 PWM is the same fan that is present on the NH-D14 yes the NH-C14 to name a few, being in known terrain this fan will have very good acoustics while being efficient!

noctua_p14s_redux_900

The NF-P14s redux-1500 PWM is the same fan as NF-P14r but with a square frame, the only difference is that the NF-P14r can attach to a 12cm fan slot while the NF- P14s will be fixed on a 14cm location.

noctua_s12b_redux_1200_PWM

Here is the NF-S12B redux-1200 PWM, certainly one of the fans that will have raised the mark, it has long been used for silent configurations and will have contributed to the notoriety of Noctua. A sure bet that I have no doubt will be very pleasant to the ear.

The characteristics of the Noctua Redux are in all points identical to premium fans, a very low maximum sound level as well as an MTBF of over 150,000 hours and 6 years of guarantees on the entire range.
The price is reduced by 25-30% compared to the same premium models, this will largely compensate for the absence of all accessories (LNA adapters, anti-vibration mounts, 3-pin or 4-pin extension, etc.).

The test platform

The Noctua Redux and IndustrialPPC have been tested with the Prolimatech Megalahems radiator on the configuration below:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7 875K @ 3,2 Ghz
  • Ventirad: Prolimatech Megahalems
  • Motherboard: Asus P7P55D
  • Memory: Kingston HyperX 4 x 2 Go 1600Mhz
  • Hard disk: WD Raptor 150 Go
  • Graphic card: Sapphire Toxic 5850
  • Food: Seasonic X650

The test protocol

The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk (still an average of the 4 cores).

The temperatures

noctua_industrialppc_redux_temperatures

All Noctua are able to cool the Core i7 875K without problems, the NF-P14s 900 however has some problems in 5V because it then runs very slowly, the NF-S12B 700 unfortunately does not run in 5V which is not surprising because its maximum speed in 12V being 700 RPM it is already well restrained.
As we can see, the temperatures are often proportional to the RPM of the fans, indeed the IndustrialPPC 2000 and 3000 are the most efficient and it is not for nothing!
However, we note a stagnation of temperatures between 2000 and 3000 rpm, they vary only by a small degree from 51 ° to 50 ° for the 14cm models and from 52 ° to 50 ° for the 12cm models, we are certainly witnessing this. at the maximum cooling capacity of the Prolimatech Megahalem, it would take a cooler with a larger dissipation surface to really realize the performance of these fans.

The sound level

Attention : Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings the measurements below are only indicative! The noise level in the room is 31dB

noctua_industrialppc_redux_niveau audibly

Here we are, noise pollution, the sinews of war for some (that’s my case!) And totally secondary for others, we can say that we have something for everyone here.
On the one hand, the Redux range which does justice to the reputation of Noctua and which is silent and devoid of parasitic noise, allowing only air noise to appear. The whole range is inaudible or almost inaudible at 5V, at 12V only the NF-P14s 1500 PWM and NF-P14R 1500 PWM cannot be qualified as silent but if they are powered by PWM there is almost no chance that they are running at full speed and even if that was the case there is certainly another component which will make more noise (like the graphics card for example).
On the other side we have the IndustrialPPC range which can be capable of the best (35dB for the NF-A14 2000 and NF-F12 2000 at 5V) as well as the worst (65dB for the NF-A14 3000 and 63dB for the NF-F12 3000), let’s not forget as I said at the beginning that this range is specially designed for an industrial environment which needs a lot of ventilation. Even if these fans, in particular the 3000 RPMs, really make a turbine noise, they remain free of parasitic noises and the vibrations remain quite acceptable.

IndustrialPPC range

Designed for performance and strength above all, this range is geared towards use in an industrial setting or for performance enthusiasts. If you are looking for fans to cool your processor, that only performance counts and you don’t care about the noise generated then you can without hesitation turn to a Noctua IndustrialPPC, on the other hand beware of the turbine noise that your PC will make with it. that 🙂

Gamme Redux

Composed of the best-sellers from Noctua, this Redux range is aimed at all those looking for silent fans with a 6-year guarantee that will ensure a certain peace of mind without having to buy the premium fans of the full-pot brand. With a price reduced by 25 to 30% compared to the premium range you will certainly not be disappointed by these fans, on the other hand the bundle is no longer there and only 4 screws are present but it will still be possible to ” buy accessories separately (see list here at the bottom of the page). Another point that deserves to be highlighted, the color! Noctua is finally releasing fans with a different color and with these two grays they are sure to make new followers 🙂
