Test – NZXT H700i – Board Config
| Specs | Price

Introduction

It has been a while since I last got my hands on a product from NZXT. The new H series boxes being released recently, I had to offer you a little test! I will therefore present to you the most high-end case of the three newcomers, the H700i!
The brand decided to stay in the spirit of what the H440 offered (tested here and there) but by seeing bigger, and more expensive 😉 Indeed the H770i is negotiated for the trifle of around 200 €, which place at the top of the basket and not intended for everyone, let’s see if the price is justified during this test!

The NZXT H700i is therefore a box that accepts a motherboard ranging from the mini-ITX format to the ATX format, including of course the micro-ATX. No E-ATX motherboard unfortunately, even if they are very much in the minority 😉 The case is made of steel for almost the entire structure (and plastic behind the front panels and above) as well as a panel side in tempered glass, the latter being almost mandatory for a high-end case nowadays (and staying in the “trend”);
The dimensions are generous with 51.6 cm in length, 49.4 cm in height and 23 cm in width, it is clear that it will not be forgotten without being enormous. The weight of 12.27 kg also places it in the upper part, not surprising for a fairly large steel case with a tempered glass panel 😉
Generous dimensions oblige compatibility with the components is optimal, the cooler will be able to go up to 18.5 cm in height and the graphics card up to 41.3 cm, enough to install any components without even asking questions.
Ventilation is not left out, 3 x 12 or 2 x 14 cm fans at the front, 1 x 12/14 cm above and 3 x 12 or 2 x 14 cm above, enough to ensure good cooling even for an overclocked configuration. The brand has always been generous for the H series when it comes to the original ventilation, here nothing changes with the presence of 3 Aer F120-H (1200 RPM) fans at the front and 1 Aer F140-H (1000 RPM) on the back, at least you don’t even have to consider whether to add more.
One of the main additions compared to what we already found on the brand’s H boxes is the omnipresence of what everyone (or almost) asks for, the RGB! Indeed NZXT has decided to add a control box inside its Hxxi boxes which combines the functions of GRID + (ventilation control) and HUE + (control of RGB LEDs). Of course to go with this the brand has added RGB LED strips in order to have direct access to the lighting system without having to buy other products.
Come on, we unpack the thing and we go to the pictures now!

Unpack and bundle

As usual NZXT does not go into extravagance with a white box on which we find pictures of the beast in front and behind, only the logo and the name of the model are present, it changes pompous marketing.

On the sides there is a small listing of the strengths of the H700i on one side, with the “smart device” which manages the ventilation and the various LEDs as well as easy “cable management” via the various ducts at the rear. On the other side a table of technical characteristics is present, just to warn the hypothetical buyer if he still buys in store.

Inside we fall on the case in its plastic bag and sandwiched between 2 thick foams, transport should not pose the slightest problem for the H700i!

The bundle naturally includes the user manual as well as the necessary screws. Plastic cable ties will help with the storage of cables in the back.
NZXT has also included an LED strip as well as an extension cord and a small guide for these. Indeed, the original case was designed to have a second LED strip installed directly but the brand has decided to leave the choice to the user to put it wherever he wants, on the front or below depending on what the user prefers. . Although this is a good idea it may be that the assembly is not as clean as if the tape was already preinstalled, see when editing!
