Test – NZXT S340 Elite
| Specs | Price

Hi all!

Back at NZXT today, with their very latest case, the S340 Elite! Under this name simply hides an improved S340, with tempered glass and compatibility with virtual reality. Indeed this technology is starting to make a lot of noise and manufacturers must get as close as possible.

As we can see the size of the beast is really contained, indeed with a length of 43.2 cm for 47.4 cm in height and 20.3 cm in width we are facing a most compact ATX case. No wonder, though, when you do without 5.25 ″ bays. The weight is however not too impacted by this small size, with 8.13 kg even if it is not huge it should ensure a fairly thick and therefore strong metal, which is a good thing!
Despite its contained dimensions, the S340 Elite does not ignore the imposing components, 16.1 cm for the height of the cooler, this will therefore allow the installation of the majority of products on the market, although it will certainly be necessary to pay attention to the more big like the NH-D15 from Noctua. As for the graphics card, it is 36.4 cm if no water-cooling radiator is installed, 33.4 cm if there is one, so no worries about this.
The ventilation is average for this type of product, namely 2 locations of 12 or 14 cm at the front, 1 of 12 or 14 cm on the top and 1 of 12 cm at the rear. NZXT as for the other versions of S340 does not provide a fan at the front but 2 12 cm above and at the back, the processor will therefore be perfectly ventilated, but the graphics card will not be cooler without either moving a fan is added at the front. The fans installed are FN V2 of the brand, rotating at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM.
Of course the dust filters are part of the front and below (at the power level) like all S340 but NZXT has added a few things to make its Elite stand out, namely an HDMI socket on the front to allow connection of a VR headset, a tempered glass side wall as well as a magnetic headset rest that can be very practical in use, whether for the VR headset or an audio headset.
Offered at a price of 99.90 € the S340 Elite is here at around 20 € more expensive than the “classic” S340s, but the small additions can justify the price for those who think of getting a VR headset, let’s take a closer look. !

The box could not be more sober, as the brand has been doing for some time now. On the front is a photo of the mounted beast which shows that the S340 Elite is specially designed for virtual reality, in addition of course to the brand logo and the model name. At the back another photo of the mounted case, and nothing more!

On the side there is a listing of the strengths of the beast as well as tables showing the full technical characteristics, at least we will not be taken in!

When opening, we find the case in its plastic bag and sandwiched between 2 polystyrene molds, a classic.

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 x Manuel
  • 1 x cable tie handle
  • The necessary screws
  • 1 x Sata extension
  • 1 x magnetic helmet rest

As we can see the bundle is complete without going into the frills, in addition to the eternal manual and the necessary screws NZXT has added plastic cable ties as well as a Sata extension and the famous magnetic headset rest, all that it takes to mount the PC without worries.
