New AMD EPYC 2nd Generation, with more frequency and more computing potential

AMD announced that its AMD EPYC ™ processor family of 2gives Generation will be extended with three new processors that combine the balance and efficiency of AMD’s Infinity architecture with “Zen 2” high-speed cores for optimal performance in databases, high performance commercial computing (HPC) and loads working in hyperconverged infrastructures.

The three new processors, AMD EPYC ™ 7F32 (8 cores), EPYC ™ 7F52 (16 cores) and EPYC ™ 7F72 (24 cores), expand the performance leadership of the 2gives Generation of AMD EPYC at workloads up to 500MHz of additional base frequency, as well as high volumes of cache, making AMD EPYC ™ the highest performing x86 server processors per core in the world *.

AMD EPYC 7Fx2 processors deliver new performance capabilities for key workloads in the enterprise market including databases with up to 17% higher performance on SQL servers® Compared to the competition, increases in hyperconverged infrastructure up to 47% higher in VMmark rating® 3.1 (using vSAN ™ as the 4-node clustered storage point) setting a new world record against the competition, as well as up to 94% higher increases in commercial performance computing (HPC) per computational core in individual performance of fluid dynamics applications against its competitors.

  • Dell Technologies will support all three processors through its full portfolio of Dell EMC PowerEdge servers based on AMD EPYC, including the R6525 that holds the world record in test results for four-node 2P at VMmark® 3 with VMware vSAN. “These new AMD EPYC 7Fx2 processors enable Dell EMC PowerEdge servers to detonate substantial performance benefits for customer business applications such as databases and hyper-converged infrastructure, where Dell EMC PowerEdge servers have a world record in performance testing. .
