Test of Navitel R450 NV video recorder with supercapacitor

The premiere was the latest Navitel video recorder, which stands out in the manufacturer’s offer on two fronts – both in terms of equipment and power supply. I am talking about the Navitel R450 NV model priced at PLN 299.

Anyone who has dealt with Navitel equipment at least once will not be surprised with the packaging of the R450 NV video recorder. This one comes to us in a box that is very characteristic for this manufacturer, in which, however, we can find something unique and I’m not talking about an additional navigation license for 12 months, but a memory card reader. What can I say, nice, because I remember very well how during the last two years I often complained about the necessity to have my own reader when using Navitel video recorders. Fortunately, the company has now improved it, allowing either the direct connection of the video recorder to the computer and setting it to the reading mode, or downloading the recordings using the reader.

In addition, the set includes an over 350 cm power cord for the car, a windshield suction cup, a microfiber cloth, a user manual with a user manual and a warranty card.

Design, materials and workmanship of Navitel R450 NV

The design of the R450 NV is like the box itself – very, very distinctive. Even despite going into the traditional format for video recorders, many will immediately notice the hand of Navitel designers in the R450 NV and the certainty that the equipment is made not to impress with its appearance, but evidently to last for many years. The designers, however, went crazy with this model, because apart from the traditional mat plastic, they decorated the right side of the video recorder with a decorative stripe and a fragment with a texture under the finger, reminiscent of the noticeably widened casing of the lens itself. They also let their imagination run wild in the front, separating the screen from the four buttons with a slightly bold and rounded part of the casing.

In terms of external elements, Navitel also did not try to rediscover America and on a 75x44x34 mm housing with a total weight of 62 grams, it has distributed everything that is most important. At the front there are the mentioned four function buttons (the up arrow secures the file in recording mode) accompanied by a decent quality 2.35-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels.

On the other side, there is only a microphone under silver holes and a 4-layer glass in the form of a lens. Navitel printed the serial number on the left side, on the right side there is a microSD card slot (standard ClassU3 or higher) with a capacity from 8 to 128 GB, a function diode and a hidden reset button, and on the upper side there is a suction cup mounting mechanism, miniUSB port for charging and a port for rear view camera (micro-jack) available for purchase on your own. Although the manufacturer does not mention it, the loudspeaker is probably on the bottom edge with huge ventilation holes protected by a mesh.

Features and quality of Navitel R450 NV recordings

Accessing and navigating the Navitel R450 NV menu with the option of selecting the Polish language is pleasant and quite intuitive. We can set the screen blanking issue, activate the parking mode, set the sensitivity of the shock sensor, activate / deactivate the microphone, or preview previously recorded materials or photos taken, because this mode was also available. Most importantly, in this video recorder you will not find a battery that can quickly refuse to work, because instead Navitel opted for a more “reliable” supercapacitor with a capacity of 1.5 farad.

The supercapacitor provides electricity, among others GP6248 processor and the main character of each video recorder, i.e. the matrix itself in the form of GC2053 (Night Vision). This one records our car journeys immediately after starting the engine through a lens with a 130-degree field of view, saving them in AVI format files with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 30 FPS. He takes photos in 12 Mpx quality.

Considering my 3-year-old adventure with Navitel video recorders, I must praise the company for not standing still and trying to improve its products. Even though changes for the better are introduced slowly and without a special pump. This latest model is a great example of this, proving that Navitel wants to offer better and better video recorders at an increasingly better price, because although the official price of the R450 NV is PLN 299, for a few days of dealing with it and writing the test, I was looking for sales offers on the web for the price. only PLN 229, which is even a very good price.

Reason? The basic functionality of the video recorder closed in a nice and solid casing, which emphasizes the many years of potential of using the R450 NV, thanks to the presence of a supercapacitor. This model is pleasant and trouble-free to use, and even stands out on the market with additional equipment and the potential to expand with a rear view camera. However, it is still an average model in terms of the quality of recordings, as befits this price range.
