Hi all !

After the test of a rather convincing Kaze Chrono I have the opportunity to look at the very last rheobus from Scythe I named the Kaze Master Flat II! More classic in terms of the display than the Kaze Chrono, we return to the very essence of a rheobus, display of RPMs, temperatures and then that’s it, all without having buttons on the front that could interfere in a box with a door on the front. Let’s take a closer look.

Scythe Kaze Master Flat II
Dimensions148,5 (L) x 42 (H) x 83 (P) mm
Weight193 g
Fan voltage control range3.7V (± 10%) ~ 12V (± 10%)
Fan rotation speed0 – 9990 RPM
Maximum power per channel36 Watts
Number of controllable channels4
Number of temperature probes4
FoodSata
Additional featuresTemperature alarm adjustable between 50 ° and 90 °
Starting the fans in 12V when the pc is switched on
Rate~ 36€

Scythe clearly put all his know-how in this rheobus and he therefore has very interesting assets. First of all, the possibility of starting a fan at 3.7V, which changes the usual 5V and which will allow the RPMs of the connected fans to be lowered very low, which will delight those who are crazy about silence (like me!). The maximum power per channel is also very interesting with its 36 Watts, so it will be possible to connect very greedy fans like the Silverstone AP182 which requires no less than 16 Watts. Scythe has also taken the plunge and is now requesting a Sata power supply for the Kaze Master Flat II, goodbye the cable with Molex connectors connected to the power supply only for the rheobus, thank you!

Spin-Up-Feature

Of course the usual Scythe features are present, such as the temperature alarm, adjustable between 50 ° and 90 ° as well as the start of the fans in 12V when the PC is turned on because some fans run without problems at a low voltage. but do not necessarily start there.
The price of around € 36 is average for products of this type. Now it’s time for the presentation of the product.

The box of the Kaze Master Flat II changes a bit compared to the brand’s products, in fact it is now content with blue and black, this is rather unusual at Scythe which usually offers colorful boxes. A listing of all the features is shown on the front side as well as a photo of the product and the model.

At the back we find the warnings and usage information, regarding the warranty and operation of the device.

On one side we see the contents of the box, we will see later what the bundle has in store!

On the other side, technical information is available, dimensions, temperature range etc.

In the box we find foam responsible for protecting everything, identical to the Kaze Chrono and it does the job very well!

Inside we find the manual as well as the rheobus and the various cables .. ah but wait, the cables are sheathed !! A first at Scythe and quite honestly we will certainly not complain!

The Kaze Master Flat II is very sober on the front, with only the 4 buttons visible in the corners, no dimmer buttons here, only press studs in the 4 corners. The build quality is very good, whether on the front or inside, we feel that the product is made to last.

In terms of connectivity, there are 4 3-pin connectors on the left for the fans, in the middle a Sata connector to power the rhebus and on the right 4 connectors for the probes as well as jumpers to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit and activate / deactivate the buzzer for the alarm.

The bundle is made up of:

  • 4 sheathed extensions 3 pins of 70 cm
  • 6 sheathed temperature probes of 70 cm
  • 4 fixing screws
  • 6 adhesives to stick the probes
  • 1 manuel

A bundle very much in the spirit of the brand’s other rheobus, with the necessary to connect everything without having to worry about the fan cables being too short.

A quick word about the sheathing which is really of excellent quality, it really changes the black red yellow cables that we are used to seeing, fans of configurations with glass will be won over!

The display is very good and very thin, it is very easy to read the information without having to get too close to the rheobus. The buttons are easy to find and don’t require inordinate force to activate, here’s how they work:

  • Mode : Changes the channel from the first to the fourth fan, pressing for 5 seconds sets the temperature from which the alarm is activated.
  • Mute : Stops the alarm when it activates, pressing for 5 seconds resets all parameters to default.
  • + : Increases the RPMs of the fans, or increases the temperature when setting the alarm.
  • : Reduces fan RPMs, lowers the temperature when setting the alarm or turns off the rheobus display when pressed for 5 seconds

When using the rheobus is pleasant, no particular problem except that the use is not as fast as if there were a button per channel. However, you must wait a few seconds between the moment you press + or – to see the display update with the RPMs of the fans.
Apart from that, the rheobus offers the essentials, with the display of all fan RPMs and temperatures simultaneously on the screen, which provides very good visibility.

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Scythe Kaze Master Flat II?
The quality of manufacture is at the rendezvous, the excellent sheathed cables are a real plus compared to other rheobus from Scythe, the handling is very fast and the security in place are also an undeniable advantage.
The possibility of connecting very greedy fans with its 36 Watts per channel can also push some users towards this rheobus. The sober and flat design also make it a rheobus that can be installed on any type of pc configuration without altering the design of the tower.

The official price of 26 € (but can be found at around ten euros extra unfortunately) makes this rheobus an excellent product that will delight all fans of silent or performance PCs.

The +

  • Build quality
  • 36 Watts per channel
  • On
  • Good quality display
  • Sheathed cables

The –

  • Hard to find at the recommended price

A big thank you to Matthias from Scythe who allowed me to do this test.
