Test -Scythe Ninja 5 – Conseil Config

Introduction

Hi all !

Scythe is back today at Conseil Config after the announcement a few weeks ago of the latest model, the Ninja 5! After version 4 (see the test here) which had and still has an excellent performance / price ratio, the very latest model has its work cut out for it but Scythe is adding a fan which could change a lot of things.
Indeed the main goal of the first Scythe Ninja was to offer excellent performance while keeping a very low sound level, even without any fan. With 2 fans instead of one if the job is well done they should run slower for the same air flow, thus allowing a logically lower sound level. Let’s take a closer look!

As we can see here a lot of things change compared to the Ninja 4. We already find a cooler which takes an overweight of almost 300 grams from 900 to 1190! In order to further reduce the noise level (which was already particularly good), the brand decided to deliver 2 fans instead of just one previously. The Kaze Flex 120 PWM which replace the Glidestream 120 PWM have a maximum rotation speed of 800 RPM, so even fully the 2 fans will clearly not be noisy. The Glidestream 120 PWM that was delivered with the Ninja 4 was equipped with a switch allowing it to directly change its maximum speed of rotation, going up to 1500 RPM on the highest mode, here we will no longer have to s ‘do it ????
The addition of an additional fan, however, makes the Ninja 5 take a few centimeters, not in height because it remains at 15.5 cm which is more than correct but in depth with no less than 18 cm! It is clear here that if you have a configuration equipped with a window, only the cooler will be seen!
The most tempting here is still the price, indeed with a recommended price of 55 € the Ninja 5 is more than interesting on paper. A huge radiator fitted with 2 good quality fans is a godsend for fans of silence, to see in the tests though!

Unpacking and bundle

The front of the box is rather sober, unlike what we could find at Scythe a few years ago, it feels good not to have any more garish colors that almost hurt the eyes. There is a photo of the beast in profile as well as of course the logo of the brand and the name of the model. Scythe emphasizes compatibility with sockets, especially the latest AM4 and 2066.

On the side is a table showing the technical characteristics, whether it is the dimensions or the weight or the noise level of the beast, nothing very exciting but the minimum union for those who would buy the Ninja 5 in store (if is findable!).

When opening the box we come across a compartment that contains the various accessories under which we can see the radiator and its fans. Transport shouldn’t be a problem as the various elements are well surrounded, which is a good thing.

In addition to the 2 fans and the radiator there are all the accessories necessary for the assembly, whether it is the different mounting systems for the different sockets, a tube of thermal paste or even the screwdriver which goes well not to be hassled. Here there will not be the slightest problem to install the Ninja 5 on its processor.
