The Ambassador told what is needed to launch Nord Stream 2
MOSCOW, 12 Sep — PRIME. The launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline requires the political will of the German government, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said in an interview with Izvestia.
He noted that “Everything depends on the German side,” the ambassador stressed, noting that today the political decisions imposed on Germany dominate pragmatism. At the same time, Nechaev cited the assessments of German experts, according to which the FRG is not capable of completely abandoning Russian gas in the short term.
“Germany does not have the necessary capacities to receive LNG, and the five terminals planned for construction will not completely solve the problem,” the ambassador concluded.
