The AMD Radeon “Polaris” RX 480 is disassembled

Prior to the launch of the Radeon RX 480, the graphics card has taken over SweClocker’s test lab, which is in full swing to see the model in the seams. So far, the media is not allowed to publish more than overall pictures of the model, but that does not stop Chinese PC Online from unscrewing it and taking detailed pictures.

The graphics card in question follows AMD’s reference design to the letter, with the exception of the Sapphire sticker on its radial fan. The first component of the graphics card is a uniform cover that covers the entire front, which is followed by the cooling solution itself consisting of a fan, a solid frame that cools the power supply and GDDR5 memory, and an aluminum heat sink with a cast piece of copper.

The circuit board is a very compact story with the Polaris 10 graphics circuit, which is surrounded by eight GDDR5 circuits of model number Samsung K4G80325FB of 8 Gb (1 GB) with a maximum effective speed of 8,000 MHz. It is all powered by a single 6-pin PCI Express connector and a power supply of 6 + 1 phases.

Prior to the launch, most of the details about the graphics circuit have been leaked, but now a detail that differs from before appears. According to the report, the base clock frequency should be at 1,120 instead of 1,080 MHz, but the turbo mode remains at the same 1,266 MHz as previous leaks mentioned.

The AMD Radeon RX 480 will be launched on June 29 and will be sold in two versions. The first with 4 GB GDDR5 for 199 dollars, corresponding to about SEK 2,050 including VAT, and the second with 8 GB or about SEK 2,350 including VAT.
