The authorities of Energodar spoke about the conditions for launching units of the Zaporizhzhya NPP

MOSCOW, 11 Sep — PRIME. The start of operation of the power units of the Zaporizhzhya NPP is possible upon reaching an agreement between the IAEA, Rosatom and the Ukrainian Energoatom, said Alexander Volga, head of the administration of Energodar.

“The launch of the ZNPP power units depends on the powers of attorney of the IAEA, Rosatom and NAEK (Energoatom – ed.),” Volga said on the air of the Rossiya 24 channel.
He added that the shutdown of the last operating power unit of the station on Sunday night occurred on the orders of the Ukrainian Energoatom, in whose operational management is the Zaporozhye NPP.

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. Since March, it has been under the protection of the Russian military. The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this step was justified in order to avoid leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Enerhodar and the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant adjacent to the city.
