The Core i9-12900K matches the memory of the Ryzen 9 5950X in Cinebench R20 Multi-Core

In an unprecedented run, the new Intel Core i9-12900K achieved exactly the same score as AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X record in the Cinebench R20 multi-core test. After this strange occurrence, both processors share the 16-core category record with a score of 15,664 points, something that had never happened in the past.

The incredible feat was accomplished by Splave, the world’s # 1 overclocker, who also set the record for the Ryzen 9 5950X that was just set using the i9-12900K. This means that Splave has achieved the highest scores in Cinebench R20 for both AMD Ryzen 5000 processors and Intel’s new Alder Lake processors, completely dominating the competition.

That the same record score is reached twice with two totally different processors, one from AMD and the other from Intel, is something that has never been seen, and the chances of this being done by the same person are even lower, so this is something that may never be repeated again.

Considering that these processors work with totally different architectures, one hybrid architecture which combines high-performance cores (P-Cores) with lower-performance but more efficient cores (E-Cores) in the case of the Core i9-12900K and a traditional architecture with 16 identical cores in the case of the Ryzen 9 5950X makes It is practically impossible to achieve the same score by maximizing both architectures using liquid nitrogen, although in the light of all predictions, it was possible.

For this record, the Intel Core i9-12900K reached 6.9 GHz in the P-Cores with a voltage of 1.58V, while its E-Cores were also overclocked, but at only 5.4GHz, with a similar voltage of 1.57V. This system used 16GB of TeamGroup DDR5 RAM at 6565MHz with CL30-37-37-57 latencies, all this on an Asrock Z690 Aqua OC.

For its part, the AMD processor Ryzen 9 5950X was overclocked to 6GHZ on its 16 cores, along with G.Skill DDR4 RAM at 4000MHz with CL14-14-14-48 latencies and an Asrock X570 Aqua motherboard.

It is amazing to see that the new Core i9-12900K processor was able to beat its opponent by having 8 fewer threads. Sadly for the Blues, with the Zen3D-based Ryzen 6000 just around the corner, Intel will lose this shared crown soon, and it will be AMD to lead the table again.

What do you think about this incredible coincidence where Splave scored exactly the same record score with both the Intel Core i9-12900K and the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X?
