The expert explained the dangers of consenting to the use of cookies on the network

MOSCOW, Sep 27 – PRIME. Pavel Korostelev, head of the security code company’s product promotion department, told Izvestia what the dangers of accepting cookies are.

According to him, the main danger of accepting cookies is that they can be used to identify the user.

“If I, as a user, go to the site, then one visit to a specific resource will not make any problem. But if someone can determine which sites on the network I go to every day, every month, this will allow someone to draw up my portrait “, – explained Korostelev, noting that the identification of user actions can be used, among other things, to slip specific information to him.

If an unencrypted connection to the server is used, then, according to the expert, the cookie can be easily intercepted and replaced, and this opens access to the account. As a rule, people who connect to public Wi-Fi and do not apply security protocols fall into this trap.
