The expert predicted the second wave of cyberattacks in Russia

MOSCOW, 25 Aug – PRIME. The second wave of cyberattacks will begin in Russia in the near future, Alexey Pavlov, director of cybersecurity services business development at Rostelecom-Solar, said.

The amount of money stolen by cyber scammers increased in the second quarter

“In the near future, I am almost sure, we will see the second wave of cyber attacks. All that we have seen before is the first wave. And these are mostly massive attacks. Now we are already starting to see targeted attacks. Attackers are sitting in many companies, now they the main goal is not to make some kind of fast encryption,” the expert noted at the Technoprom-2022 forum.

Pavlov stressed that after the start of the special operation, the number of irretrievable encryption increased tenfold. In 50% of cases, according to him, the criminals continue to demand a ransom, but in the other half, they simply delete the information, as in the Federal Air Transport Agency.

“Pro-government groups of other countries are now located in half of the regions of Russia. In principle, no one can detect them, because they don’t understand how. We (RTK-Solar) encountered them in federal executive bodies – they were sitting there for five years. Pro-government groups , even if you knock them out, even if you find them, they have unlimited budgets and they will definitely return – you just have to be ready for it,” the expert added.
