The French authorities called for an end to the strikes at the refinery in the coming hours
MOSCOW, 11 Oct — PRIME. A solution to end a weeks-long refinery strike that has depleted fuel supplies at French gas stations must be found in the coming hours, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said today in an interview with French radio.
Franceinfo: The price of diesel in France rose by 10 euro cents in a week
Le Maire said the government was prepared to wait “a few days, not weeks” for unions and the companies involved to find a solution. Otherwise, the French government, according to the minister, will have no choice but to intervene itself to stop the strikes.
“Our compatriots should not be collateral victims,” Le Maire added.
Earlier, French government spokesman Olivier Veran announced the readiness of the authorities to intervene to find a way out of the deadlock associated with the strikes.
