The Governor announced a halt in oil production at the Sakhalin-1 project
MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. The volume of oil and condensate production at the Sakhalin-1 project has almost halved in seven months of this year, and now oil and gas production has been stopped, Governor Valery Limarenko said on Wednesday.
In his speech at the plenary session of the Far Eastern Energy Forum “Oil and Gas Sakhalin 2022”, the head of the region recalled that regarding the Sakhalin-1 project, in April, Exxon Neftegas Limited notified a decrease in production, citing force majeure circumstances.
“The volume of oil and condensate production over the seven months of this year has almost halved compared to the same period last year. And at the moment, oil production has been stopped,” Limarenko said.
According to the head of the region, it is expected that the annual production will be 4.2 million tons instead of the planned 8.9 million tons.
“A decrease is also expected for gas due to the fact that the company has suspended its production since September 16, 2022,” the head of the region added.
