The head of the Ministry of Energy spoke about the prospects for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Primorye
VLADIVOSTOK, 6 Sep — PRIME. The Ministry of Energy studied the prospects for building nuclear power plants in the Far East, but there is no final decision yet, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said.
Russia and Turkey to continue planned work at Akkuyu NPP
“We considered the sites, but did not make a final decision. But … there is one facility, one of the options is a station in the south of Primorye,” Shulginov said speaking at a session at the Eastern Economic Forum.
The head of the Ministry of Energy noted that the department is working with Rosatom to increase the share of nuclear power plants in accordance with the instructions of the president.
“Today this share is almost 20%. There is a task to increase it to 25% by 2040-2045,” the minister recalled.
The WEF takes place on September 5-8 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island in Vladivostok. RIA Novosti acts as the general media partner of the forum.
