The Kremlin positively assessed the arrival of the IAEA mission at ZNPP

MOSCOW, Sep 2 — PRIME. The Kremlin positively assessed the arrival of the IAEA mission at the Zaporizhia NPP, expecting the agency to assess the state of the facility and raise issues related to nuclear safety. This was announced by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“In general, we are very positive about the fact that, despite all the difficulties and problems, including those related to the provocative actions of the Ukrainian side, the commission (IAEA) arrived and started working. You know that the team is still there , in place, and continues (to work), therefore it is too early to talk about the assessments of the work of the mission. The main thing is that the mission is there,” the official representative of the Kremlin said.

Peskov added that experts should assess the state of the ZNPP and provide answers to questions related to nuclear safety.

The IAEA mission, headed by the agency’s director general Rafael Grossi, arrived at the Zaporozhye NPP on Thursday. The head of the delegation of “Rosatom” and employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP led the delegation of the IAEA through its territory and showed the sections of the station that were damaged during the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
