OSQUA, Sep 4 – PRIME. On September 1, Kyiv attempted a provocation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) contrary to the scenario of the mission, agreed at the level of the IAEA and the UN, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
As noted, witnesses of the failed assault attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs were journalists who arrived in Energodar, who took refuge in a bomb shelter and observed the shelling of the ZNPP territory and residential areas by Ukrainian artillery.
As the Ministry of Defense explained, in order to prepare the operation to seize the ZNPP, cars with “special representatives” of Ukrainian, British and American media were attached to the IAEA motorcade. These journalists were supposed to report on the transfer of the station to the control of Kyiv in the event of a successful capture.
At the same time, they stressed in the department, a pass to the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region was carried out strictly according to the lists previously provided by the UN to the Ministry of Defense. All outsiders trying to cross the border line were stopped.
ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, located on the left bank of the Dnieper near Energodar. Since March this year, the facility has been guarded by the Russian military.
Against the backdrop of continued shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces, an IAEA mission arrived at the ZNPP on Thursday. The head of the delegation of “Rosatom” and employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP led the IAEA delegation through the territory of the facility and showed the sections of the station affected by the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine once again tried to seize the station during the visit of the IAEA delegation.
