Boeing will apparently go with the times (via Interesting Engineering) and in its future works will connect the real and virtual worlds on its way to Web 3.0, or Metaverse. All because the new Boeing plane will have its “digital twin”.
A new era of design is coming with the Metaverse in the lead. This will be confirmed by the new Boeing plane
Modern technology opens the door to a whole host of possibilities not only at the design stage, but also at the production lines themselves. A great example of this is Boeing, which has announced that its 3D engineering projects will have digital twins to which they will be linked. In turn, the company’s employees in factories around the world will be connected using Microsoft’s HoloLens augmented reality sets.

In other words, Boeing has just made a big step towards this more usable Metaverse, where airline service and manufacturing will be united in a single digital ecosystem. Boeing, like Airbus, wants its next planes to be built and assembled with 3D replicas of the “digital twins” of physical jet prototypes in the assembly and manufacturing processes.

This approach will be extremely useful for assembly line engineers and management staff who are deeply rooted in strategic decision-making processes. This will ensure that even many years after the commencement of commercial operation of the new aircraft models, the digital twin will provide the ability to trace every single piece of information in the history of the aircraft.
