The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 will be launched in October

After a steady stream of launches in the enthusiast class, Nvidia is preparing to take on lower segments, where AMD has so far been alone with the Radeon RX series and the Polaris architecture. Next in line is the GP107 graphics circuit, which replaces the GM107 from the GTX 750 Ti and GTX 750.

Earlier reports have said that the GP107 graphics circuit will be housed in a Geforce GTX 1050, while later data instead suggested that the name be GTX 1050 Ti. Now Benchlife claims that both names are relevant and that there will thus be two new graphics cards from Nvidia during the autumn.

The Geforce GTX 1050 Ti will be the model equipped with full-scale GP107, which means 768 CUDA cores, 48 texture units and 32 raster units. The clock frequency for the model should be at 1,290 MHz at base and 1,382 MHz at boost, which gives a theoretical computing power of 2,123 GFLOPS – a substantial increase against today’s GTX 750 Ti (1,389 GFLOPS) and just under 2,413 GFLOPS for GTX 960 .

The amount of graphics memory for the model should be 4 GB GDDR5 as standard, but it is also possible that there will be a lower priced variant with only 2 GB. One thing that can be seen as a setback from the GTX 750 Ti is that the TDP value goes up to 75 instead of 60 W, which, however, is low enough that the graphics card does not need a 6-pin PCI Express for extra power supply.

For the Geforce GTX 1050, one of five SM clusters is shut down for a total of 640 CUDA cores and 40 texture units, and the amount of GDDR5 memory is reduced to 2 GB. Its maximum clock frequency, on the other hand, is higher, 1,455 MHz, which with a lower number of cores gives 1,862 GFLOPS in theoretical performance. Also for this graphics card, the TDP value is expected to be 75 W.

The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 is expected to land at $ 119, which is $ 10 over AMD’s Radeon RX 460 with 2 GB GDDR5. The better-performing GTX 1050 Ti is expected to step up to 149 dollars, corresponding to approximately 1,600 kronor including VAT. The duo sees the light of day during the month of October.
